When i was taking all my class 2b, 2a and 2 lessons, there is no need for CDC simulator lessons. Unfortunately, now you have to clear 3 CDC simulator lessons for class 2b, 2a and 2 before you can take the traffic police test. It is more like arcade game but with many screens. From what i have gathered from the current learner in CDC learner telegram group chat, you do not have to wear helmet and guards for the lessons. But you are required to bring Identity Card(IC), long pant, covered shoes and gloves for the lessons. If you forget to bring IC, then you can try using the digital IC in your singpass.

Some Tips before Starting

1st tip: Rev up to 6000 rpm before changing to Gear 1 to prevent engine stall issue. The sim machine will also prompt you to engage Neutral before starting up engine. You also have to follow the instruction from the sim machine.

2nd tip: Do not to mount the sim bike like a real bike. Put one of your legs on the floor so that you can balance.

3rd tip: Look at computer screen that log your ID, or the speedometer and control whenever you are feeling motion sickness or uneasy. Do not stare too hard at the screens. While the roads in the sim are “realistic” when stationary, the graphic is not smooth especially when stopping and turning.

4th tip: As the sim bike will sway left and right by itself, do not fight it. Put one of your legs to help you balance.

5th tip: If you need a small breather, just hit the “car”. As long as you do not move, the graphic will stop. Use this to take a small break before restarting

Content of Simulator

Module 1 will focus more on basic control, navigation and lane changes. Scenario is likely to simulate possible accident on dry road like pedestrian dashing out. (Interaction with non vehicles like human and animals)

Module 2 is likely to be adverse road conditions like unexpected heavy rain and road condition. Or you might get the “drink riding” scenario whereby screens are a bit blur with double images. Accident will always happens during the simulation. (Adverse road/rider condition )

Module 3 is likely to be simulating riding in the expressway with higher speed and simulations on interaction with other road users like cars. Possible scenarios could be car crashing you from the left or right side.

Requirements for taking Simulators

For class 2b learner, you will have to complete any 5 lessons (example: 5 x Lesson 1 or 3 x Lesson 1 and 2 x Lesson 2) before you can start your CDC simulator lessons. Please do note that you might experience motion sickness like dizziness, light-headedness, or nausea after the simulator lesson. Thus, you cannot book 3 back to back sessions. Instead, you have to book each session with a break in between. My suggestion is to book all 3 simulator lessons in one day with 1 break in between each session. Pls do try to complete all your theory lessons and tests as soon as possible to prevent any bottlenecking. Both theory and practical lesson can be cleared at the same time. Some learners progress were impeded as they are unable to book their next practical lesson due to not clearing their theory lessons and tests fast enough.
